Making Mornings Series: #10 Making Mornings a Celebration

This grew out of a series to be posted on a board. It served as a reminder for me to intentionally create the mornings I want, in many different ways and being.

After taking on different types of mornings, trying different things that work or don’t work for you, everyone deserves a pat on the back.

Making Mornings Series: #10 Making Mornings a Celebration
I celebrate the fact that I get a new morning, well.. every morning. We worry about the day ahead but technically, it hasn’t started. You get to create it for yourself the day ahead, whether same-old-same-old or something new.
When the new day counts as one of your blessings, and you learn to have gratitude, isn’t that in itself cause for celebration?

Making Mornings Series: #9 Making Mornings Joyful

This grew out of a series to be posted on a board. It served as a reminder for me to intentionally create the mornings I want, in many different ways and being.
By this stage, those who live in their head a lot (like me) start to get confused. At #9 of the series, how can one person’s morning take so many forms?
The beauty is in understanding the possibilities are endless. You can take one and make it your own for 30 days (somewhat to ingrain a habit in a way of being). Or you can mix a few up and create your own combination of morning (because really, is there any other type of morning other your own for yourself?). Or you can see what serves you for that day or week and take on that one way of Making Mornings accordingly.
I haven’t got it all done to making it all effortless, but I figured along the way that the next element was quite crucial.

Making Mornings Series: #9 Making Mornings Joyful
Consider being in the state of joy and yet treating something with the utmost importance, while intending for the most effective result. Consider that it doesn’t need the furrowed brow, intense look or serious attitude.
Seriously considering?
Stop.
Mornings are joyful because we don’t overthink it. Joyfulness happens in the heart, out of the head. Maybe big dreams happen with or without joy, but it sure is easier with joy.

Making Mornings Series: #8 Making Mornings Connected

This grew out of a series to be posted on a board. It served as a reminder for me to intentionally create the mornings I want, in many different ways and being.

Making Mornings Series: #8 Making Mornings Connected

While being connected today often means being plugged in electronically, what I mean here is the old definition: connection to people.

There is something magical about hearts connecting.  When one person acknowledges and appreciates the presence of another person, either party has a more enriching morning as a result.

To acknowledge is to say, “Thank you for being you.”

To appreciate is to say “And there is no need to be anyone else.”

Making Mornings Series #7: Making Mornings Inspiring

This grew out of a series to be posted on a board. It served as a reminder for me to intentionally create the mornings I want, in many different ways and being.

Making Mornings Series: #7 Making Mornings Inspiring
Imagine waking up every morning inspired, eyes alight, smile on your face and skip in your step. I find the easiest way is to give some morning time to always be reading about inspirational examples, journaling or to take a small step towards a goal I have.
Inspiration uplifts and brings possibilities, and possibilities expand and bring more inspiration.

Making Mornings Series: #6 Making Mornings Passionate

This grew out of a series to be posted on a board. It served as a reminder for me to intentionally create the mornings I want, in many different ways and being.

#6: Making Mornings Passionate

Mornings would be a little dull if there wasn’t any passion.  The reason why we do anything, no? Maybe not.

To me, passion is about jumping out of bed, excited to have a great morning and a great day. As opposed to rolling out of bed, by sheer gravity.

Often we shy away from passion because of various stories we tell ourselves about what passion means.  Redefining your mornings will mean redefining what passion means to you – so that you can truly, deeply love your mornings.  Love and passion are never too far apart, and we can never be without too much love.

Making Mornings Series: #5 Making Mornings Creative

This grew out of a series to be posted on a board.  It served as a reminder for me to intentionally create the mornings I want, in many different ways and being.

#4 Making Mornings Creative

I believe in everyone’s innate ability to create.  It has nothing to do with having to be good at art or to have an artistic skill.  The ability to create results from our ability to produce something of ourselves, without which we remain somewhat a life of default.

Our precious mornings, the start of each day, being in the state of creation – means making not the choice not to live reactively, and to actively contribute to your lives around you.  An intention, a journal entry, a homemade breakfast, a smile, then maybe an idea, a healthy lifestyle, a space to explore.

It’s not difficult to make mornings creative.  The question is with this invitation, what will you create?  And will it serve your life and others?

Making Mornings Series: #4 Making Mornings Healthy

This grew out of a series to be posted on a board. It served as a reminder for me to intentionally create the mornings I want, in many different ways and being.

#4 Making Mornings Healthy:
Is it really about what fitness steps to take, how much green juice in the morning & “required” glasses of water?
Truth of the matter, is many of us do not know what works best for our bodies. If we are truly unique, so will be the needs of our body to stay healthy be also unique: whether it’s yoga vs kick boxing in the morning, combination of protein or combination of juices, whether it’s waking at 5am or 6.15am.
How self-aware about what works for us best, not what seems to be prescribed on the internet? How sensitive are we to what our body tells us it needs? Have we tried and experienced it, instead of reasoning away an avalanche of health articles?
Perhaps it’s that simple, have you listen to what you (not others) actually need to be healthy? Why not?

Making Mornings Series: #3 Making Mornings Fun

This grew out of a series to be posted on a board.  It served as a reminder for me to intentionally create the mornings I want, in many different ways and being.

#3 Making Mornings Fun

And here it is: you don’t need permission to have fun.  Not from the people around you, not from what happens around you, not even from yourself.  Jump up and down (yes, just for fun), grin a goofy smile for this loving morning, and maybe just enjoy yourself a little for this morning.

Fun often becomes an afterthought, something to do at the end of the day (if you have time).  I think fun can be brought back to its level of importance – to the start of my every morning.

Making Mornings Series #2: Making Mornings Simple

This grew out of a series to be posted on a board. It served as a reminder for me to intentionally create the mornings I want, in many different ways and being.

#2 Making Mornings Simple:
I’ve always been intrigued by the power of simplicity. A few key moments can shift the mornings dramatically. A few key changes can shift your power to create dramatically.
So a lot of my mornings was an exercise to come back to simplicity. To force me to look at only what matters and strip out the rest.
15 minutes earlier to slot in a nature walk. Remove the midnight snack so I get more rest earlier. Turn down the gossip time so I get more focus on meeting my work schedules and leaving the office earlier.
So this morning, come back to simplicity.

Making Mornings Series: #1 Making Mornings Beautiful

Background:
What this really is about is a series of writings you can pin up on a board or screen each Monday morning to take you through the week. It’s amazing how much you can create, the magic you can accomplish by making the choice to choose each moment starting from every Monday and every morning, to be the present moment in that you will live your life differently. It’s a moment by moment choice and some reminders do help. While I have not formatted it into a poster as such (*LMM WIP idea), I would like to do a 10 part series and see where that takes me.
A friend wanted to fill a whiteboard with inspirational messages. And I imagine that each weekend, the board would get wiped clean and a new message goes up.

Each time it’s wiped clean, it’s a new opportunity to create something new in that space, just like each morning. So here goes, a 10 part series, posted weekly – on “what will you make of your mornings, and the start of your day?”

#1: Making Mornings Beautiful
Beauty uplifts the spirits. Your definition of a beautiful morning may be different from mine. I like sunlight & flowers at the window. Your may like the cool dark dawn. Others may like certain music, or the smell of coffee, or the laughter of their kids.
A morning is made beautiful by activating your senses to something you like, that refreshes and uplifts. Learning to make mornings beautiful means learning to be aware of what lifts your senses, incorporating that one change into your morning ritual, and learning to see the beauty of everything else around you.
Would that be a great way to start the day, with just that one difference?
